Life
Marion McLean was born in 1769 on the Isle of Tiree, Argyll. She married Neil McFarlane and together they had a daughter Christina McFarlane (b. 1802, Kilkenneth, Tiree). The McLean (MacLean) name is one of the most prominent Highland clans with deep roots in Tiree — the MacLeans of Duart held Tiree as part of their territory for centuries. Marion's McLean heritage means Clan MacLean blood runs directly through the McFarlane/McKinnon line.

The 1776 and 1779 Tiree lists include 15 and 11 girls named Marion or Maron McLean of about her age, so they cannot single her out. A Marion McFarlen, 60, lived at Kilkenneth in 1841 (dwelling 564); she could be this woman, but 60 is about 10 years younger than a 1769 birth implies.

Tiree's Old Parish Register begins in 1766, so a baptism in 1769 should be present if the family was recorded. Search it for McLean baptisms at Kilkenneth and other townships, and for Neil McFarlane's marriage in the 1790s.
